JAKOB VIÑAS

At the age of 10, Jakob Vinas was selected to sing in the Wunderkinderchor (Children's Choir) of the Escolania de Montserrat (Catalonia, Spain), where he had already received music education, vocal training, piano lessons, and cello lessons for four years. By the age of 17, he became a teacher at the VIC Conservatory in Barcelona and the principal cellist of the Orquesta Sinfónica del Vallés (Symphony Orchestra of Vallés).
He continued his education at the Lübeck University of Music in Germany, studying composition and instrumentation with Viktor Suslin and conducting with Günter Behrens. As a cellist, he performed at the Musik-halle in Hamburg, the Chamber Hall of the Berlin Philharmonie, and the Sala Pau Casals in Vendrell (Spain). As a cellist, he also recorded J. S. Bach's Suites for Solo Cello for Radio Nacional de España.
As a conductor, he led ensembles such as the Student Orchestra of the Lübeck University of Music, the Orquesta de Cordoba (Spain), the Ensemble Musica Illustrata, and the Lviv International Symphony Orchestra (Ukraine) and more others. He has conducted soloists such as Ignasi Cambra (piano), José Fraguas (violin), Zackar Bron (violin), Natasha Pinschepenko (violin), Arkadi Gudnikov (violin), and Wolfgang Schmidt (cello).
In order to bring out the best from the work and the orchestra and to achieve a profound and emotional interpretation, Mr. Viñas always conducts from memory.
He is also a writer interested in human sciences, philosophy, mathematics and physics.
In October 2022, in the middle of the war, Mr. Viñas gave a concert with the Lviv International Symphony Orchestra (Ukraine).
